We are recording in our homes on inexpensive digital equipment and getting better results than abbey road studios.

Http://www.myspace.com/johnnyrockstonAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02548104725930259454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5526704657739088406.post-57865109125496587212009-05-15T06:45:00.000+01:002009-05-15T06:45:00.000+01:00Agreed, 100%!Agreed, 100%!Ronan Guilfoylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668316692753726447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5526704657739088406.post-84681879399771228172009-05-15T03:15:00.000+01:002009-05-15T03:15:00.000+01:00Many people do not even try or want to understand ...Many people do not even try or want to understand that intellectual property is true property. I think it's interesting that nobody seems to have thought to ask the musicians what THEY think about file sharing and illegal downloading. In the bullshit media portrayal of brave filesharers versus evil record company moguls, nobody makes the (very short) logical leap that in the end -

a) The musicians are the ones who will ultimately suffer the most

and

b) When it finally reaches the point where recording is completely uneconomical, we'll stop!

It may be true that the old model of recording is gone forever, but who's going to come up with the new one? Who's going to come up with the model that will make it worth our while to go into the studio again and spend time and money recording a creative document?

Answer me that you hypocritical journalist bullshitters and down!oading filesharing thieves!Ronan Guilfoylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668316692753726447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5526704657739088406.post-89188457147802379282009-04-29T08:30:00.000+01:002009-04-29T08:30:00.000+01:00One thing people always complain about is that "so...One thing people always complain about is that "something should have been done earlier,in the 90's or so". And like Ronan writes, they say "Nothing can't be done now". Somewhere around year 2000 I had the opportunity to take part in high-profile music seminar in Northern Finland. Journalists from all over Europe were flown to Lapland to hear the latest developments in Finnish music scene. One showcase of the event was a guy from ELISA(local teleoperator) displaying their new webshop for music download. He blasted on it's user-interface,download speed and easy pricing(1 € ),etc. for an half hour. When there was time for questions I asked him: How much do we musicians get? He replied: We haven't really given that any thought.
What I want say is that us living in countries that are the cream of the crop in IT- development, ie. Ireland,Sweden,Finland, we must not hesitate in defending our rights for intellectual property. With the age of digital download your rights as a composer, arranger, performer are more valuable than ever.
Don't sell them away cheap.
Not all publicity is good publicity.

I'm also shocked that so many people seem to think that musicians are victims of the music business. After all, composing 40-70 minutes of music that is worth of publishing on CD and is of any interest to other people than yourself is such a task and demanding effort that I totally understand if someone does not want to be the person who is also taking care of recording, mastering, cover art, pressing, promoting the record. Not to mention hauling them to HMV, if they manage to lengthen their existence.

Cheers.Vesa Anttilanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5526704657739088406.post-69569328950741753052009-04-25T12:24:00.000+01:002009-04-25T12:24:00.000+01:00I'm shocked so many people think musicians are vic...I'm shocked so many people think musicians are victims of the music industry and need to be set free.
I'm also shocked so many people think music should be free, freely shared to boot.
Great blog.Chris Whittennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5526704657739088406.post-89470009035299030542009-04-20T03:47:00.000+01:002009-04-20T03:47:00.000+01:00As I've been saying for the past decade when free ...As I've been saying for the past decade when free downloading really took off : If you want free music anytime you want, learn to play an instrument!Lindsey Hornerhttp://www.lindseyhorner.comnoreply@blogger.com
